ISB Hyderabad, IIM Calcutta Make It To The List Of Top 3 B-Schools In The World

While India has performed well in the one-year MBA courses, none of the Indian B schools made it to the top 50 of two-year MBA degree programme.

Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta bagged second and third spot in a survey conducted to list world’s top management institutes offering one-year MBA programmes.

A total of 35 one year MBA degree programmes were surveyed by the Times Higher Education and Wall Street Journal. The business schools were ranked based on performance across parameters such as resources, engagement, outcomes and environment.

ISB Hyderabad outranked IIM Kolkata by small margin. While the overall score for ISB Hyderabad was 75.7, the overall score for IIM Calcutta was 75.5. IIM Calcutta has scored the highest in the section of delivering outcomes (85 points), against the global average of 65.5. The first rank was grabbed by University of Hong Kong.

Rajendra Srivastava, Dean, IBS Hyderabad, said that the prominence of the institute in THE-WSJ ranking and Financial times ranking was due to the ‘faculty efforts and achievements, student and alumni success and staff dedication and excellence.’

Speaking of the achievement, IIM Calcutta Dean of New Initiatives & External Relations, Professor Prashant Mishra said, “We are thrilled that our PGPEX programme has been recognised in this prestigious ranking by Times Higher Education and Wall Street Journal. This achievement is a testament to the commitment and high quality of work accomplished by our faculty, alumni, staff and students.”

B Schools in USA continue to dominate the two-year MBA programmes. Nine out of top ten Business Schools are from United States with Stanford Graduate School for Business topping the list.
