A day after the ISIS suspect Saifullah was gunned down by the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) Lucknow, the National capital has been put on red alert as massive terror attack has been predicted in New Delhi. According to an India Today report, the ISIS men are on run and may be hiding in Delhi. Therefore, high security has been deployed in the national capital and the security has been beefed up in Parliament.
Earlier on March 9, the Lucknow ATS killed the suspected ISIS terrorist Saifullah who was hiding in a house in Thakurganj, on the outskirts of Lucknow. Before he was gunned down, a 12-hour-long operation was carried out to capture him alive. Saifullah was killed during an exchange of fire with the police. As per reports, Saifullah was a devout member of the Kanpur-Lucknow unit of IS’s Khorasan module.
Based on “concrete” information from intelligence, the ATS had gone to apprehend Saiful who is suspected of involvement in the blast in a train in Madhya Pradesh, from a house in Haji colony of Thakurganj area when he suddenly opened fire on the team.
However, certain reports claim that the National Capital could be the target for these terrorists who are on the run. Since the Parliamentary session is going to commence from March 9, security conditions have been tightened around the house premises.
Earlier on December 13, 2001, militants from Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) carried out an attack at the Parliament were they opened fire at the security personnel. There were nine terrorists who infiltrated the Parliament House in a car with Home Ministry and Parliament labels while more than 100 people, including major politicians were inside the parliament building. This attack killed 14 people including five terrorists, six Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament Security Service personnel and a gardener.
