ISRO Launches India’s 1st Satellite That Can Detect Enemy Radars

It was also the first time that ISRO allowed the general public to witness the launch live from its premises.

A week after India successfully test-fired an anti-satellite (ASAT) in the Mission Shakti operation, the country’s space agency Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched EMISAT which is said to be the country’s first electronic intelligence satellite. It was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. In its 47th flight, PSLV C-45 launched EMISAT along with 28 other foreign satellites belonging to the US, Switzerland, Lithuania & Spain. It was one of the longest missions and also the first where ISRO sent satellites into three different orbits. Weighing 436 kg, this low-orbit satellite was developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation. It will be used to detect enemy radars. It was also the first time that ISRO allowed the general public to witness the launch live from its premises.
