One Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant was killed on January 19 in a fresh encounter between the security forces and terrorists in Kashmir’s north Bandipora district.
Abu Musa, the LeT commander, had been hidden in the Bandipora district and was killed by the forces this morning.
As the police said, after getting information about the hidden militants Parray Mohalla in the Hajin area, security forces launched a search operation in the village.
During the search operation, the militants open fired the security forces. In return, the security force backfired and a militant was gunned down in the fire exchange. The forces also recovered arms and ammunitions from the shelter of the militants.
Earlier this month, one LeT terrorist was already encountered by the security forces in Bandipora district. On January 9, three personnel from General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) martyred at the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir on January 9. The attack took place in the wee hours when three terrorists open fired at the GREF camp. Three other GREF personnel sustained critical injuries.

Earlier on January 6, in an anti-terrorist joint operation carried out by Army and police, an Al-Badr militant, Muzaffar Ahmed, was gunned down in Machu area of Budgam district in J&K
The GREF camp was situated 2 Km away from the Line of Control (LoC). On January 9, three terrorists crossed the LoC and open fired at the camp. A high alert was sounded following the attack.
