A young IPS Officer is providing free coaching classes to over 150 aspirants of competitive exams in Jammu and Kashmir. Apart from serving as the Superintendent of Police in South Jammu, Sandeep Chaudhary dedicates two hours of his day to help students who could not afford quality coaching.
Wearing his uniform but limping due to a ligament tear, the officer is making sincere efforts to turn his class lively and his students are very excited for being a part of his initiative.
The Jammu cadre officer started giving free coaching inside his office chamber for 10 candidates who aspire to become sub-inspectors in the state police. Soon, the word spread and within a few days the number grew to 150 students, forcing Chaudhary to look for an alternate arrangement.
Speaking to News Agency PTI, Chaudhary said, “By teaching them for free, I am not only helping them save money and help them in building their career but had achieved a unique satisfaction for myself. I have learnt like this and hopefully after they achieved heights in life, I am sure they too will come forward and extend a helping hand to someone.”
The 2012-batch officer completed his higher studies from IGNOU and cracked UPSC without taking any coaching classes.
“Getting through tough exams is possible even without costly coaching. Focused approach and learning through participation also leads to faith of the youth in the system.” he quipped.
Hailing from Punjab’s Ferozepur, Chaudhary met with major success in his drive against drugs and criminal activities since his posting in Jammu in February last year.
A firm believer in democratizing education, Chaudhary says “employment is the largest challenge for the youth and making them capable to achieve their professional goals helps them become better citizens.”
