A young Kashmiri businessman, whose car was recently stolen from Srinagar, has come up with a unique public notice. He has reached out to the burglars to keep his vehicle as a “gift” provided they return his bag which contains valuable documents.
The victim got this unusual advertisement published in a newspaper Greater Kashmir. “Maturi Alto Stolen: My Alto white colour car bearing registration No JK03 8622 has been stolen on 23 Nov 2016 Wednesday at Hyder Pora at 3:00 PM. There is a bag in the car which contains important documents like the original documents of my factory ‘Divine Industries’, Sales Tax documents, personal academic documents, birth certificate of children etc. If anybody has any information regarding this car please inform on below mentioned address on humanitarian grounds. The returner can only return the bag and keep the car as a gift to him. Nazir Ahmed Dar R/O Sirhama Bijbehara, Ph: 9622445641,” reads the advertisement.
Speaking to InUth, Dar, a post graduate in Science said, “Just last year I had started an industrial unit here. All the original documents pertaining to the unit were in the car, so I badly need them.”
“I really don’t mind gifting my car to them (burglars), if they return my documents because in a place like Kashmir it will take me years to get duplicate copies processed.”
Police have said that it is for the first time that they have come across such an appeal. Senior Superintendent of Police Budgam, Abdul Wahid said: “Normally we come across cases where complainants are willing to give a token reward to the one leads to recovery of stolen property, but it’s a unique case.”
The SSP, however, is hopeful that they will be able to “crack the case within days.”
