Javed Akhtar tweets about Malegaon blast accused Purohit; faces wrath of GK Nazis on Twitter for confusing NIA with INA

Javed Akhtar committed a mistake while tweeting about blasts accused Aseemanand and Shrikant Purohit. And Twitterati did not forgive him

Javed Akhtar is known for his strong views on social and political issues. Be it intolerance, triple talaq or any other subject, the veteran lyricist does not shy away from speaking his mind. On Tuesday, he spoke on Ajmer and Hyderabad blast accused Aseemanand and Shrikant Purohit, who is an accused in the Malegaon blast case.

Akhtar, a former Rajya Sabha MP, tweeted,”Aseem Anand or Prohit . The humane , compassionate and kind attitude of INA towards them has really touched my heart . Wow !!!”

However, while expressing his sentiments on the issue Akhtar mistyped NIA (National Investigation Agency) as INA (Indian National Army). Aseemanand, an accused in 2007 Mecca Masjid blast case, was granted bail on March 31 by a local court in Hyderabad. He was recently acquitted in Ajmer shrine blast case as well.

As far as Purohit is concerned, the NIA informed the apex court on Monday that it did not need his custody as it had already filed a chargesheet in the case. Purohit, a former army officer, is accused of being an active member of radical Hindu group Abhinav Bharat and stealing 60 kg of RDX from the army which was allegedly used in Malegaon blast.

Meanwhile, have a look at how Twitter responded to Javed Akhtar’s erroneous tweet.
