Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s supporters gathered in large number outside the Apollo hospital in Chennai after Jayalalithaa suffered a cardiac arrest late Sunday and had to be shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The AIADMK chief is being treated in the hospital for lung infection for more for two months now.
Here are the latest updates on the AIADMK’s Chief’s health condition:
-Apollo hospital confirmed that Jayalalithaa breath her last at 11:30pm and died due to cardiac arrest.
-Apollo hospital rubbished the reports of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa passing away and said that continues to be critical and is still on life support.
-The latest health bulletin released by the Apollo hospital say that Jayalalithaa continues to remain critical.

– “Despite our best efforts, Jayalalithaa remains in a grave situation,” says Sangita Reddy, Executive Director Apollo Group.
-Apollo hospital spokesperson says Jayalalitha still is in a critical condition. She is on ECMO and other life support systems. The hospital further affirms that she is being closely observed.

– “She is on extracorporeal membrane heart assist device and is being treated by a team of expert doctors and critical care specialists. Dr Richard Beale from London has also been consulted and he has concurred with the line of treatment by our cardiologists & pulmonologists.” the Apollo hospital said in a statement.

This comes days after the hospital had assured that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister was out of danger and would be able to able to resume work soon.
-Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu is on the brink of chaos after the bus services were stopped and after an incident of stone pelting near Tiruvannamalai-Latha was reported in the state. Traffic police have blocked all the roads leading to Apollo hospital on the Greams Road, in order, to avoid traffic congestion.

-Additional security forces have been deployed outside the hospital where Jayalalithaa is undergoing treatment.
-Union Home Minister JP Nadda affirmed that the government was in constant touch with the hospital and all the necessary measures are being taken to ensure that amma recovers soon.
“We are in constant touch with Apollo hospital where Jayalalithaa has been admitted and the Tamil Nadu Government as well. We have also sent a team of specialised doctors from Delhi AIIMS to Chennai. They needed doctors and we have sent them that. The government is doing whatever possible. We hope and pray for her speedy recovery.” JP Nadda said.
The AIADMK supremo is undergoing a treatment at the Apollo hospital since 22 September, after she complained of fever and dehydration. However, the hospital later said that she was being treated for infection and had to be put on respiratory support.
