Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is in an “extremely critical” condition after Jayalalithaa suffered a cardiac arrest late Sunday and had to be shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

– The Executive Director of the Apollo group has said that despite their best efforts, Jayalalithaa remains in a grave situation. The hospital has affirmed that she is being closely observed.

-With Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa being in an “extremely critical” condition, speculations are rife that OP Panneerselvam will be the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. MLAs were summoned in the Apollo hospital one by one and made to sign a declarion which said that Panneerselvam who is Jayalalithaa’s loyal understudy will be her successor.
-Buses travelling from Tamil Nadu to Karnataka has been temporarily suspended as precautionary measure. Supporters have gathered in large number and praying for health.

-Jayalalithaa is on extracorporeal membrane heart assist device and is being treated by a team of expert doctors and critical care specialists. Dr Richard Beale from London has also been consulted and he has concurred with the line of treatment by our cardiologists & pulmonologists, Apollo hospital said in a statement.

-Union Home Minister JP Nadda affirmed that the government was in constant touch with the hospital and all the necessary measures are being taken to ensure that amma recovers soon.
The AIADMK supremo is undergoing a treatment at the Apollo hospital since 22 September, after she complained of fever and dehydration. However, the hospital later said that she was being treated for infection and had to be put on respiratory support.
