In order to convert residence of late J.Jayalalithaa into a memorial, acting CM O Panneerselvam has kick-started a signature campaign on February 11. He said, the Poes Garden residence of former CM will be converted into a memorial.
Earlier, Interacting with media at his residence on January 9, Panneerselvam had said, “Jayalalithaa’s Poes Garden residence will be converted into a memorial.
Sasikala, AIADMK general secretary is the current occupant of the bungalow. The sprawling bungalow of 24000sqft is known by ‘ Veda Nilayam’, named after Jayalalithaa’s mother Veda.
The value of landmark property is somewhere between 90-100 crores, as estimated by the real estate experts in Chennai.
For past many days, political crisis is going on in Tamil Nadu over the Chief Ministerial post. Sasikala has claimed that she has the support of at least 120 MLAs who had also attended the strategy meeting of the AIADMK held after O Panneerselvam revolted openly against the closest aide of Jayalalithaa saying that she forced him to resign.
Also, Panneerselvam has reportedly written to bank, saying that he was the Treasurer of AIADMK and directed them to not allow any transactions in party account without his consent.
AIADMK General Secretary Sasikala Natarajan refuted all the charges levelled against her by the acting CM O. Panneerselvam. At the meeting held at the AIADMK headquarters few days back , Sasikala told MLAs, nothing can break party’s unity and no force can break AIADMK. Clearing air about speculations of him joining other party Panneerselvam said that he had no plans to join any other party and that he had served AIADMK with utmost loyalty. Both of them have challenged to proved their majority in the Assembly.
