Jaya's former driver, key suspect in Kodanad estate murder, killed in accident

Another suspect and close associate of Kanagaraj, Sayan met with an accident in Kerala on Saturday

On April 23, a security guard was hacked to death at former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa’s Kodanad tea estate. It’s been less than a week and two main accused in the case have met with separate accidents. Jayalalithaa’s former driver Kanagaraj, prime suspect in security guard murder, was killed in a road accident in Salem district on Friday night. Kanagaraj was Jayalalithaa’s driver until 2012. The driver-turned-taxi owner was on his motorcycle when he was hit by a four-wheeler.

Another suspect and close associate of Kanagaraj, Sayan met with an accident in Kerala on Saturday. The alleged mishap took place when their car hit a truck between Palakkad and Thrissur. The accident took place at around 5.30 am this morning, The Hindu reported.While Sayan was critically injured, his wife and son have died in the alleged accident.

According to an Indian Today report, the police discovered that three suitcases with documents of Jayalalithaa’s property worth crores were stolen from the estate.

Based on the inputs from the other security guard who survived the Kodanad tea Estate attack, police have released a sketch of one of the assailants.

Kanagaraj and Sayan were suspects in the break-in and murder case, the police said citing information provided by three persons taken into custody yesterday in connection with the murder.
