Indian Institute of Technology -Madras announced the results of JEE-Advanced 2017, the all India ranks and category wise rank details of the candidates are available on the official website. However, gender gap remained evident this year too. As many as 1.38 boys appeared for the exam, on the other hand, only 33, 358 girls took the JEE-Advanced exam. Among those who qualified the exam this year, 43, 318 are boys and 7,137 are girls. Hyderabad’s Ramya Narayanasamy emerged as the topper among girls with All-India Rank (AIR) of 35 and Shafil Maheen from Kerala secured top position in the south zone.
Sarvesh Mehtani of Panchkula bagged top position in the JEE (Advanced) exam, the second rank was secured by Akshat Chugh from Pune and Delhi’s Ananye Agarwal was third. Sarvesh Mehtani wrote the exam from IIT Roorkee zone and scored 339 marks out of 366.

This year, the total of 10.20 students appeared for the JEE main exams in 2017 and according to their rankings 2.20 lakh top scorers made it to the JEE Advanced exam 2017, however, only 1.7 lakh took the exam. For the first time ever, IITs held the test in other countries too and the six centres to choose from were Singapore, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Ethiopia and the UAE. There were 500 foreign candidates who gave the exam, out of which seven candidates qualified the exam.
IITs this time gave away 11 marks extra to the students who took the exam. This was done to compensate for the three ‘ambiguous’ questions that were asked in the JEE (Advanced) exam. Out of three, two questions were asked from mathematics section and one from physics.
