Jilted south Delhi ‘lover’ throws acid on teenage girl suspecting her of marrying someone else

The attacker walked to the police station and turned himself in to the cops after carrying out the attack

A 22-year old man has been arrested for hurling diluted acid at a teenage girl, believed to be his lover. According to a Hindustan Times report, the incident happened on Wednesday morning in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar , which is mainly known as a working-class neighbourhood.

Delhi Police officials were quoted as saying by HT that attacker Ravi Kumar reckoned that the 19-year old victim was getting married elsewhere, which instigated him to carry out the attack. The cops reportedly said that Kumar turned himself in to the police after committing the crime by heading straight to the police station.

According to the English news daily which quoted the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South-East, Romil Baaniya, the victim was taken to the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and is currently recuperating. She is expected to survive the attack, as per the report.
