Renowned journalist Tavleen Singh recently found herself at the receiving end of a barrage of criticism after she shared a fake picture of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Twitter. Tavleen Singh went on to share a photoshopped image of Uttar Pradesh CM drinking cow urine.
Soon after she shared the image, social media users slammed her by sharing the real image where Yogi Adityanath can be seen drinking water from a hand pump. A number of people lashed out at her for mocking the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh by sharing a fake photo of him. However, she defended herself stating that she thought that the cow’s urine was “sacred” and that she thought the photo was “genuine”.
Here’s the picture that she shared on her social media account:
And then someone corrected her:
Have some shame Tavleen. pic.twitter.com/9FFH5Vniri

This is what she said to defend her stand after being attacked by the Twitterati:
No. I thought cow’s urine was sacred for Hindus and thought it was a genuine picture. Is it not sacred? https://t.co/xekGSBFYRb

If cow’s urine is sacred why are so many Hindutva followers ashamed of that picture? It looked genuine to me so I posted it. https://t.co/DsTfRxKu4T

However, clearly several people were not pleased with her defence and continued to attack her for her post:
i didnt know this journalist is so nasty and has so much disgust for hindus. how shamlessly this woman is defending that tweet is remarkable

Surprised by Tavleen Singh! Was balanced and non-partisan in her column. Now she’s gone off the deep end, lost objectivity. Too bad!
