Karnataka cadre Indian Administration Services (IAS) officer, Anurag Tewari was found dead in Lucknow city of Uttar Pradesh on May 17. The police officials recovered his body after a passerby informed them on spotting his dead body on the road.
The exact cause of death has not been ascertained as yet. However, initial reports suggest that he may have died due to a heart attack. The IAS officer was identified by the security officials with the help of the Identity card and other belongings that he possessed. According to news reports, the police have termed it a suspicious death. The police are currently making efforts to investigate the matter.

Anurag who was the native of Bahraich was an officer from the 2007 batch and was posted in Food Supply department in Karnataka. Some media reports suggest that there were injury marks on his chin and head. The body has been taken to the hospital for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death. “There was an injury mark on his chin. The body has been sent for post-mortem. Only after the reports are out, something can be said,” Tiwari’s cousin Rahul Pandey told ANI.
His body was found near a guest house called Meera Bai guest house located in the Hazratganj area.
Anurag Tiwari was apparently visiting Lucknow for his personal work and had recently divorced his wife, Times of India reported. He was also reportedly staying in the same guesthouse for the last two days.
