‘Kashmiri youth can either choose tourism or terrorism,’ says PM Narendra Modi as crowd chants ‘Modi Modi’

As PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the longest tunnel in the country, he addressed a gathering in Udhampur as crowd chants, "Modi Modi"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 4 addressed a gathering at Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir as he inaugurated the longest Chenani-Nashri Tunnel in the state. The 10.89 kilometre Chenani-Nashri road tunnel is not only India’s but is also the longest highway tunnel in Asia. Huge security has been deployed since Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting the state.

Following which he addressed a rally in Udhampur and said that some misguided youngsters are pelting stones but, youth of Kashmir are using the same stones to build infrastructure. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti even addressed the gathering and congratulated PM Modi for registering a historic win in the state of Uttar Pradesh while the crowd chanted “Modi Modi” slogans.

While addressing the rally, Prime Minister asserted that the government’s sole Mantra is development and the way they want to achieve that is through “Jan Bhagidari” while involving the youth of the state.

The tunnel project in Jammu and Kashmir is between Udhampur and Ramban part of the proposed widening of the NH-44 from Jammu to Srinagar. The tunnel is expected to save fuel worth nearly Rs 99 crore a year.
