Kerala Fisherman Who Became A ‘Human Step’ During Floods Gets A New SUV

One of them was a fisherman named Jaisal who acted as a 'human step' for flood victims and helped them climb into the rescue boat.

When Kerala was reeling under the worst floods it had witnessed in over a century, some real heroes stood out with their selfless acts of bravery. One of them was a fisherman named Jaisal who acted as a ‘human step’ for flood victims and helped them climb into the rescue boat. As an appreciation of his work, he has been now gifted a brand new SUV.

Mahindra and its dealer in Kerala called Eram Motors have rewarded him with a brand new Mahindra Marazzo. The car’s key was officially handed over to him by Kerala Excise and Labour minister TP Ramachandran. “I never expected that I would one day get a vehicle like this. When Sir was talking about all these things, I got dumbstruck for a moment,” Jaisal said while taking the keys.

He further added, “When I was working with the rescue officials in Malappuram district, our motive was to rescue the maximum number of people, even if it involved risking our lives.”

“I am both happy as well as sad to have taken part in the rescue operations. I am so overwhelmed that I don’t have anything else to say,” he said.

Anand Mahindra too tweeted about this kind gesture.

Trained in karate and taekwondo, Jaisal is a volunteer at Trauma Care agency which he joined in 2002 in Kozhikode. Jaisal and his 10-member team reached the marooned spots in Vengara on rented boats, after they were called by the locals to the rescue operations.
