A senior woman police officer in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district stood up to bullying by a group of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers after one of them had to pay fine for not carrying valid driving documents. The police officer- Shreshtha Thakur, a Circle Officer, can be seen confronting agitated BJP workers who were raising slogans against the police.
According to a NDTV report, the BJP workers had surrounded the officer and were arguing with her, as to why she took action against the traffic rules violator. In the video, Thakur can be seen telling them that “she will add additional sections for creating public disorder”.
“You please go and get written orders from the Chief Minister that the police have no right to check vehicles… that we can’t do our job. Hum raat mein parivar ko chhor ke duty karte hain, maze lene ke liye nahi (we leave our families at home at night not to have fun but to do our job),” she said.
She also told the BJP workers that they are bringing a bad name to their party and that people will soon start saying that they are BJP’s goondas.
The incident happened on Friday afternoon when a BJP district-level worker Pramod Lodhi was issued challan for not carrying proper documentation of his motorcycle. The man allegedly misbehaved with police officers following which he was arrested, the police said.

This is not the first case where a BJP leader and workers have threatened a woman cop. Earlier, in CM Yogi Adityanath’s parliamentary constituency Gorakhpur, BJP MLA Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal had hit the headlines for reprimanding IPS officer Charu Nigam.
“Don’t cross your limits,” MLA Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal was seen saying angrily to the woman IPS officer. The video of that incident had gone viral on social media.
