The paper-based SAT test created by the College Board, USA was held on January 21 and it has been for the first time that a school boy from Lucknow has come out with flying colours scoring a staggering 1590 out of 1600. Shubh Agrawal, a class XI student, has scored the highest marks in India and now, he is eligible to apply for any of the leading universities to pursue graduation in the United States.
The SAT exam is conducted so that most colleges and universities in the America and globally could make admission decisions. The test consists of 4 sections, two from English and two from Mathematics. The result comes in the form of a score ranging from a minimum of 400 to a maximum of 1600, in intervals of 10 points.
Shubh Agrawal has scored 800 out of 800 in the maths section and 790 out of 800 in the evidence-based reading and writing in English section. His total score is 1590 out 0f 1600, which makes his percentile highest in India.
Shubh studies in standard XI in City Montessori School, Gomti Nagar branch and both his parents are doctors. While speaking to Hindustan Times, the 16-year-old genius said, “I can look forward to not only successfully applying to the most elite colleges in the US, including Stanford, CalTech, Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and others but will also get substantial scholarship.”
The centre coordinator at USA UnivQuest and Shubham’s mentor, Sanjeev Kumar Pandey has also congratulated the young boy who is now going to have a progressive graduation career in the US and appreciated his efforts.
“USA UnivQuest is very proud that they have polished this gem for the world. In order to strengthen his application and maximise his scholarship, Shubh is also planning to write AP tests in May,” Pandey said.
