The Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of a plea filed by Nestle India seeking 550 tonnes of seized expired stock of Maggi noodles till September 30.
Nestle India on Wednesday had filed an application seeking 550 tonnes of Maggi noodles, the stock that was recalled last year following reports that it contained lead beyond the permissible limits.
The Food and Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is supposed to respond to this request in the next hearing, ANI reported.
Nestle India had recalled stocks of Maggi and till September 1, 2016 destroyed nearly 30,000 tonnes of the popular noodles.
The company said that while it had 490 tonnes of stock pending for destruction, 60 tonnes was received from the market. Hence a stock of 550 tonnes of Maggi noodles stored at 39 locations across the country needed to be destroyed.
