A university in Bihar cancelled the BA Part II examination on Friday after mass cheating was witnessed in the state. The exams in the Veer Kunwar Singh University had commenced on Thursday at 41 centres in which around 87,000 candidates appeared.
The colleges which come under the university are spread over many districts such as Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur and Rohtas. In the photos that have gone viral, the students can be seen sitting on the floor and giving exams at Kunwar Singh College centre, even the invigilators do not intervene.
Paramhans Tiwari, who is the Principal of Kunwar Singh college said that there were 4,400 students who took the exam but the college only has the capacity of 2,400 seats. Singh said when he found out students sitting on the floor giving the exam, he was told that as there was lack of space and candidates found room hot they were moved out of the class.
VKSU Vice-Chancellor Syed Mumtazuddin said, “We received information about use of unfair means, irregularities in examination besides proxy candidates appearing at the examination held on September 1. We have cancelled all examinations of the first sitting of Veer KunwarSingh College centre. The decision was taken by the exam board”.

He added that the cancelled exam will be conducted again on September 20. Also, the Center Superintendent of the college has also been replaced after the incident. Meanwhile, Bihar Education Minister Krishnandan Verma said that a probe will be ordered into the mass copying and those found guilty will not be spared.

“The matter will be probed thoroughly. No one who is found to have been involved in the incident will be spared. Strict action will be taken against them,” added Verma.
