A massive fire broke in a godown at Harihar complex in Dapoda, Bhiwandi district on February 19. Four have been reported dead, while 2 have suffered burn injuries. The disaster management team have been rushed to the spot and rescue operation is underway. The officer at the spot informed that, the injured have been shifted to Sion hospital.
The incident took place in Dapoda village in Bhiwandi at 12:30 pm, which is known for warehouses in Bhiwandi.
Fire engines from Bhiwandi, Kalyan and Thane were rushed to the spot to contain the fire.
Santosh Kadam chief of the Thane Municipal Corporation’s (TMC) Regional Disaster Management Cell said, “it is not known what these people were doing in the godown and their identity is yet to be established.”
Kadam also asserted that, the reason of the fire is being investigated.

In the last three days, this is the second such incident in Bhiwandi. Earlier on February 17, one person died due to fire in a powerloom unit.
