Miffed with red-stained walls, UP CM Yogi Adityanath bans Pan Masala and Ghutkas in govt offices

After going on slaughterhouse banning spree, Yogi Adityanath has directed the government officials to not consume pan masala during duty hours

Days after taking charge as the new Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has gone ahead to ban pan masala, ghtuka or any kind of tobacco in all the government offices with immediate effect. The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya who confirmed that the Chief Minister had put a ban on the use of pan massala after visiting the secretariat in Lucknow.

According to reports, the decision comes after Yogi Aditya made his first visit to the secretariat annexe building in Lucknow and noticed the red-stained walls. He had also urged the employees of the organisation to maintain a clean environment.

“The CM has advised against the use of pan masala, plastic and pan in government buildings and offices,” Deputy CM Keshav Prasadd Maurya said. The new chief minister has also banned use of any form of tobacco at government schools colleges and government hospitals. Adityanath has also banned the use of plastic in the government establishments.

“The chief minister visited the annexe building and officials posted there. After detecting stains on walls, he directed the employees to not consume pan or pan masala while on duty and ensure cleanliness,” Maurya told the reporters.

This announcement comes soon after the reports Adityanath banning illegally-run slaughterhouses in Allahabad and Varanasi. Yogi Adityanath took oath as the Chief Minister of state last week in the presence of top leaders including Prime Minister Narendra, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav.
