Minor Hindu boy, Muslim girl found hanging in UP due to alleged family pressure over relationship

Six months ago, both of them eloped and were later brought back by their parents

In a shocking incident, a Muslim girl and a Hindu boy were found hanging from a tree in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place in Jaunpur’s Sikrara police station area from where the bodies were recovered. As stated by the police officials, the Hindu boy was 16-year-old and the Muslim girl was 15-year-old. The police suspect that both of them were in a relationship and committed suicide thinking their families would not accept it.

The police have also reported that the boy was a student of XI standard while the girl studied in class IX. They lived in the same locality of Dudauli village. Six months ago, both of them eloped and were later brought back by their parents.

Arvind Kumar Pandey, Sikrara station officer, stated that it seems that the two left their residences late in the night on April 1 without getting noticed by their family members. Later, both of their dead bodies were found hanging from a tree in the village’s burial ground.

Station officer Pandey said,”At first, the matter appears to be a suicidal case but we have not found any suicide note. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.”

“The families are not ready to speak about their relationship which appears to be the main reason behind their suicide,” added Pandey.
