In yet another incident, a mob attacked a village in Uttar Pradesh after a cow carcass was found floating in the village pond. The incident took place on Friday morning in Adauli village which comes under Bulandshahr district. The mob also attacked a place of worship of a particular community.
“Many houses were looted, and two of our religious structures vandalized. After the attack, many frightened families have locked their houses and left for safer places fearing further attacks”, said the eyewitness on the condition of anonymity.
Pradeep Kumar Tiwari, SP (rural) said, on getting the information about the cow carcass found in the local pond the police teams rushed to the village and tried to “calm down” the agitated crowd. He added that the police also detained few for questioning. Later, the carcass was sent for post-mortem.
However, after the police left the village, the mob gathered once again and went to the village where it pelted stoned and also attacked local residents.

“Like every day, I was going about my daily routine when suddenly a large crowd began running in my direction, some of whom started thrashing me and even threw away the vegetables on my cart into the drain,” said Aabad Ali, who is a vegetable vendor.

After the incident, Praveen Rajan SP (city) said that a PAC has been deployed in the village and strict action will be taken against those who were involved in the violence. He added that the police had received a complaint and a FIR will be registered on the basis of it.
