Extending her support to the family of the Indian citizen who lost his life in a shootout in Jamaica, Union Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj has directed the Indian High Commission (IHC) in Jamaica to provide every possible help in the situation.
Earlier this day, Sushma Swaraj, on Twitter, also asked the IHC in Jamaica to provide a detailed report of this unfortunate incident. Condoling the victimised family, Swaraj wrote,”Talreja family – I am sorry to know about this tragedy. My heartfelt condolences.”
“Indian High Commission in Jamaica will follow up this case with the Police and help you in all possible manner,” the MoE added.

On February 9, few armed robbers broke into the home of Rakesh Talreja in Jamaica’s capital Kingston. The robbers snatched his cell phone after which they shot three bullets on Rakesh’s back.
Rakesh shared his apartment with two others while one of which also got hurt in the shootout.
Rakesh was soon taken to a hospital but was declared dead before admission. His two roommates, who sustained injuries on their legs, are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
25-yeras-old Rakesh Talreja hailed from Vasai in Maharashtra and worked as a salesperson at Caribbean Jewellers in Kingston and his employer used to ask his employees to take some amount of cash home every day to avoid theft in the shop, according to the reports.
