‘More Than Adultery, Need Clarity On Adulting’: Twitter Has The Last Word On SC Judgement

Twitter did not lose its humour in welcoming the Supreme Court judgement.

As the Supreme Court has struck down the archaic adultery law, that provided for the prosecution of only man if they are found to have extra-marital affair, the folks on social media were elated over the top court’s ruling. A five-judge bench led by CJI Deepak Mishra judge said that adultery can be a ground for divorce but cannot be a criminal offence.

While pronouncing the judgement, the top court said, “Women can’t be asked to stay as man or society asks.. It’s time to say husband is not master of a woman.”

Though the verdict in all its seriousness will have a long reaching impact on the Indian society, Twitter did not lose its humour in welcoming the judgement.

Well done CJI Deepak Misra.
Deriminalised homosexuality. Decriminalised #Adultery.
Finally, you have made it clear that the “Penal” in the Indian Penal Code has nothing to do with any male organs.
