#MuchCool: Every Haryana Panchayat Sarpanch Will Soon Have iPads, Tablets

The move has been introduced as part of a plan to introduce an e-panchayat system in the near future

The state of Haryana is taking another step towards development. The Haryana Development and Panchayats Minister Om Prakash Dhankar has now said that all sarpanches of panchayats will be provided with iPads or tablets.

While addressing sarpanches from across the state on Wednesday, Dhankar promised an electronic tablet to every panchayat sarpanch, adding that they could have a village youth as a computer operator to assist them with the devices.

The move has been introduced as part of a plan to introduce an e-panchayat system in the near future. According to Dhankar, this move is not applicable for development projects until March 31, 2018, and will help with later schemes. Reportedly, the government will now also develop the required infrastructure for the e-panchayat scheme.

Once in effect, the new scheme will allow panchayats to file quarterly drafts of Gram Vikas Yojana every year. Additionally, it would also facilitate payment of daily wages, enable sarpanches to reopen dormant bank accounts, and withdraw up to Rs 25,000 at any time.

The move was introduced in light of the government raising the budget for development projects to Rs 20 lakhs.
