Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries is all set to make some major announcements on February 21 and it is very likely that he will be extending the Reliance Jio freebies offer. Earlier in December 2016, Ambani announced ‘Jio Happy New Year Offer’ thereby extending the free data, voice, video and applications offer till March 31 for new users joining from December 4 as well as the existing ones.
Earlier reports suggested that Reliance Jio will soon be launching the phone numbers starting with digit ‘6’ for the new users. An update on this information puts it that the Department of Telecom (DoT) has allowed Reliance Jio to start offering new phone numbers with 6 as the first digit as it has received a large number of requests for new connections.
Before some big announcement, there are speculations in the market that Ambani will unveil 4G VoLTE enabled feature phone too. Since India accounts for the sale of over 70% featured phones, the announcement of Jio LYF feature phone at dirt cheap prices might disrupt the whole smartphone market.
He might also launch Jio Payments Bank for online money transfer to compete Paytm and Airtel. Meanwhile, Reliance Jio touched 100 million customers. Also, Reliance Jio and Uber have announced the signing of a strategic partnership that would allow users to pay for rides using Jio Money.
