In a praiseworthy step taken by Mumbaikars to keep their city clean, a 5 million kg of dirt has been removed the famous Versova beach and the now it looks so clean. Just pick an old photo of the beach and compare it with a new one and you can easily see a major difference between the two photos.
According to a report in NDTV, the initiative to clean the beach was led by a 33-year-old lawyer from Bombay High Court, Afroz Shah. Many locals and celebrities also helped him in cleaning the beach.
With the support of the India’s richest civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 300 volunteers, United Nations the task of making the beach dirt and filth free became successful.
The beach is quite famous among tourists, as well as locals. With so many visitors coming to the beach every day, it was among the dirtiest beaches in the city but within 85 weeks the beach has got a complete and nice makeover.
As the Versova beach is much cleaner, Afroz Shah is now all set to make the other beaches in the as clean as this one. “I always call it a date with an ocean. So when you are on a date, you are mentally at your best and physically at your best. And that’s what I do with the ocean”.
Many celebrities took to twitter to applaud Afroz Shah and volunteers effort. Raveena Tandon on her twitter wrote, “Well done !! Bravo Afroz Shah and citizens and AssociatioVersova”!
