Seems like the standoff between Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad and Air India is not going to end any time soon, the All Indian Cabin Crew Association (AICCA) have come out in support of the national carrier demanding an unconditional apology from MP. AICCA said that Gaikwad is and will continue to be a risk to flight safety and govt must think hard about letting him back on.
The association also demanded that MP should tender an unconditional apology to Air India employees for his behaviour and should give in writing that he will abide by all norms.
In a shocking incident on March 24, Gaikwad repeatedly hit a 60 year-old Air India official 25 times from a sandal after which the national carrier lodged two FIRs against him and also barred him from flying. When the matter came to notice, the Federation of Indian Airlines which has Jet Airways, IndiGo, SpiceJet and GoAir as its member too banned Gaikwad from flying.

Since then Air India has cancelled the flight tickets of Gaikwad twice after which he was forced to take a train. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MPs are demanding that the ban put on Gaikwad should be lifted. In a shameful incident on Thursday Shiv Sena MPs heckled Civil Aviation Minister Gajapathi Raju as he has refused to intervene in the matter, the situation came under control only after Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani came for Raju’s rescue.
On April 6, Gaikwad in Parliament cried foul and mocked Air India official whom he assualted. He in the Parliament said,“I apologise to Parliament if I’ve caused any hurt, but not to the Air India official.”
