The Northeast is known to be eminently self-sufficient and resourceful with its rich biodiversity that has the potential to fuel business opportunities. In order to bring exposure to entrepreneurs involved in micro-small and medium enterprises, and to make them independent, a 10-day-long khadi exhibition was organised at the zonal level.
P Tokhuka Achumi, General Manager, Director Industry Centre, Dimapur, told ANI, “We are fortunate that many participants have exhibited their products. We expect that our local products and whatever we are manufacturing under the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVVIC), will be implemented thoroughly.”

Around 50 entrepreneurs participated in the exhibition with people coming from across the northeast. Nagaland Khadi & Village Industries Board (NKVIB) is a non-profit organisation that puts into effect programmes and schemes by KVIC. They provide a marginal grant to the beneficiaries, and are financed by banking agencies to promote Khadi and the village industry activities in Nagaland.
“We have come from Phek district to participate in the PMGVY. We brought wooden spoons, plates, etc. But there’s not much sale since it started on March 26 as there are very few people visiting the stalls. But anyway we are grateful to the organisers for giving us the opportunity to exhibit our products,” Zacito, one of the particpants told ANI.
The fair is an attempt to make use of the available indigenous resources and to empower the upcoming and existing entrepreneurs to innovate and set up flourishing businesses.
