New India is emerging: PM Narendra Modi tweets post historic win in UP, Uttarakhand

Both Samajwadi Party and Congress are in introspection mode given the kind of drubbing they faced in the assembly Polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said a new India which stands for development is emerging. “A new India is emerging, which is being powered by the strength and skills of 125 crore Indians. This India stands for development,” he tweeted.

Modi’s tweet came after the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday registered landslide victory in assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The BJP is also making efforts to form government in Goa and Manipur. “When we mark 75 years of freedom in 2022, we should have made an India that will make Gandhiji, Sardar Patel and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar proud,” the Prime Minister said.

Opposition has targetted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching demonetisation drive alleging the move has brought economic emergency in the country. A section of opposition had raised doubts about surgical strike against Pakistan forces across Line of Control. Both the Samajwadi Party and Congress are in introspection mode given the kind of drubbing they faced in the assembly Polls in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Meanwhile, Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh today said that the opposition parties post the humiliating defeat in Uttar Pradesh will now have to rethink and introspect about the kind of mindset that was prompting them to follow this politics of disruption.

Singh told ANI that the nation backed demonetisation because they knew the long-term benefits of this move.

“The entire country is standing in support of demonetisation and notwithstanding the initial hardship that the people had to go through. They were still willing to cooperate because they knew the long-term benefits of this,” he said.
