Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was on Friday found guilty in a rape case by the CBI court in Panchkula, Haryana. The self-acclaimed spiritual guru now faces up to seven years in jail. The quantum of sentence will be pronounced on August 28.
Soon after the verdict, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was immediately taken into judicial custody. The cases dates back to 2002 when a woman wrote an anonymous letter to the then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee claiming that she and other sadhvis were raped by the spiritual guru.
While there are reports of a law and order breakdown in some parts of Haryana, Twitter is poking fun at the Dera chief reminding him of his larger than life movies. Several hilarious tweets and memes are doing the rounds on social media.

Meanwhile, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar after the verdict said: “Whatever is the verdict, we will implement it. Ready to deal with any circumstances, security arrangements are in place. Appeal people, especially Dera followers to remain calm.”
