Seems like trouble is not ending for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, after a debacle in the recently concluded Municipal corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls, now his party will have to go through a mini-election in the month of May.
In a report published in The Times of India, sources in election commission said that poll watchdog will clear its stand by around May 15 on the petition demanding disqualification of 21 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs for allegedly breaking the law that prevents them from holding an “office of profit”.
AAP will remain in power in the capital even if EC disqualifies 21 MLAs of its party but this will be a big jolt for the party which in last two months have suffered two major setbacks. First, party’s performance in Punjab and now in MCD polls.
Meanwhile, EC in the coming days will also invite AAP and other parties, who are blaming EVM tampering for their loss in the election, show them how is it possible to hack the machines.
Few days back, Kejriwal had said he fears 5 to 10 percent of EVM tampering in the municipal polls and have asked people to vote for AAP in a huge amount so as to defeat BJP.
Delhi deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia after the MCD results blamed EVM tampering for their loss and said that BJP has done research on tampering. He said, “After losing 2009 elections, BJP for five years did research on EVM tampering and it is because of that that today the party has won these elections”.
