Former world champion Sarita Devi to become India's first professional lady boxer

Sarita Devi will face Hungary's Zsofia Bedo at Imphal, Manipur on January 29

31-year-old Asian champion and previous world Campion boxer, L. Sarita Devi will plunge her mark as India’s first lady boxing proficient to battle Zsofia Bedo of Hungary at Imphal, Manipur on January 29. The 29-year-old Zsofia is prominently known for her knocking skills and has won 19 credits till date.

L Sarita Devi will make history as she will be the first ever female boxer from India to venture into the universe of expert boxing at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex indoor stadium in Imphal.

Sarita, who is currently preparing herself at the Sports Authority India’s National Boxing Academy in Rohtak, reveals her excitement for the match. The Manipuri people are excited for the historic occasion. IBC’s business accomplice Sporty Boxing said that starting Sarita’s expert profession from Imphal is a vital move.

Meanwhile, L.Sarita is also a Manipur Police officer and an Arjuna awardee in the year 2009. Inspired by the accomplishments of World Heavy Weight boxing Champion Muhammad Ali, Sarita took boxing at 15 years old.

In 2001, she represented India at the Asian Boxing Championship at Bangkok and won a silver award. Other than the national and world titles and different crowns, Sarita has also won silver award at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
