Even as Uttar Pradesh government claims that only the state police will work as part of its newly-launched anti-romeo squad, it has emerged that some self-proclaimed vigilantes are also willing to take law in their hands and interestingly they see this as their social responsibility.
According to a report in CNN-News18, members of Hindu Yuva Vahini, a Hindu outfit founded by Yogi Adityanath, have said that they will act on their own to keep miscreants in check.
When told that this was supposed to be the job of police, they said that we don’t need anyone’s permission for good work ( Accha Kaam Karne ke liye kisis ke permission ki jarurat nahin hoti). “Even God helps people doing good work (Accha kaam karne wale ka bhagwaan bhi saath deta hai).” “We see outside colleges that girls say the guy is her brother, but he is not (Yahaan par ladkiyaan bold deti hain woh mera bhai hai magar wo bhai nahin hota),” the one of the member said.
Another member joined the conversation and said that he didn’t care about the relationship a girl shared with a boy, he didn’t want them to “create filth on the roads”. “It is unacceptable. Things that should be done behind curtains will not be allowed in the open, ( Rishta kisi ka kisis se kuch bhi ho hame usse koi matlab nahin hai magar road pe Gandgi karna bilkul galat baat hai)” he said.
