Intelligencies agencies have warned India saying that there’s a possibility of Pakistan terrorists sneaking in the country with the help of Afghan IDs. The intelligence agencies have claimed that the terrorists from Pakistan-based terror outfits have managed to procure the Afghan passports somehow and could use them to unleash an attack on India ahead or during the Republic Day celebrations.
According to reports, the Delhi have beefed up security across the state especially in the Rajpath area where the Republic Day parade takes place on January 26. However, it must be noted that such warnings is not something new and is heard almost every other year ahead of the Independence day and Republic day celebrations.
Meanwhile, more than 60,000 securitymen, including Delhi Police, CAPFs and NSG commandos, have been deployed in the national capital till January 26 evening due to terror threats ahead of Republic Day celebrations, officials have confirmed, adding that Police have been asked to be alert about suspicious activities.
The police officials further added that people who have installed CCTVs at their shops and houses have been asked to keep them in good condition.
According to the media reports, snipers and spotters along with troopers from the Signals Regiment of Indian Army would be posted around Rajpath round the clock to monitor the movement of vehicles and visitors.
Indian Army has also positioned quick reaction teams (QRTs) across Delhi to respond to emergencies. Indian Air Force personnel would be deployed with air defence weapons. Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan who has arrived in India will be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day parade this year.
The visit of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is also the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE armed forces, is expected to boost bilateral ties in the key areas of trade and security.
