Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma will soon be the proud owner of a sprawling bungalow in Lutyens Delhi. And can you guess what is its cost? Rs 82 crore! Yes, that is the price Sharma will be paying to get the land for his bungalow in the country’s most expensive and posh Lutyens Bungalow Zone at New Delhi’s Golf Links.
As per a report in the Times of India, the Paytm founder has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and paid a substantial amount as an advance for the property which covers nearly 6,000-sq-ft area in the Lutyens’ zone. There has been no official statement from the Noida-based Paytm office on the matter.

Interestingly, Vijay Shekhar Sharma and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were the only two Indians who were included in the annual list of ‘100 most influential people in the world’ in 2017 which was released by the Time magazine in April. Those who reside in the Lutyens Zone include Naveen Jindal, Sunil Mittal, Ruia brothers among others.
The news of Sharma’s new investment has left the Twitter chatting. Some even credited the PM’s demonetisation move for the Paytm founder having bought the place. As per reports, Paytm was the biggest beneficiary of demonetisation as people had used the app to avoid cash transactions in times of cash crunch. A report stated that in just 12 days after demonetisation was announced, Paytm had witnessed over 7 million transactions worth Rs 120 crore a day.
At last..one person benefited from demonitization. Congratulations.

There was a lot of criticism when Paytm used Modi’s photo advertisements they published in national newspapers when after demonetisation. They later apologised or not taking a permission from the Prime Minister’s office for using his photo. They also reportedly had to pay a fine of Rs 500 for the use of PM’s photo. Here is a look at it to remind you of what it was!
Several politicians including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had questioned if there was a nexus between the government and Paytm.
