Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting on the situation along the Line of Control.
The meeting has been called in wake of recent ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops, ANI reported.
The PM took stock of the situation along the Indo-Pak border.
“It has been a matter of serious concern that there have been several infiltration bids by terrorists along the LoC,” Lt General Ranbir Singh, Director General Military Operations(DGMO), told media.
This is reflected in the terror attacks in Poonch and Uri on September 11 and 18 respectively, he added.
Pakistani troops have also twice violated the ceasefire along the LoC since Wednesday. Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire along the LoC in Naugam sector of Kashmir by opening indiscriminate fire towards Indian Army posts.
Pakistani troops had targeted Indian positions with small firearms along the LoC in Poonch district.
Diplomatic snub
India continues its diplomatic offensive against Pakistan by boycotting the upcoming SAARC summit in November. Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Bhutan also pulled out of the event.
Vikas Swarup, official spokesperson, Ministry of External Affairs, told ANI that when none of the member states decides not to participate in the SAARC summit, then there is no choice but to postpone the event.
