Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan as she was all said to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 8. This is the third in three years that the Bangladesh Prime Minister was visiting India. Both the Prime Ministers are expected to discuss on the bilateral ties and other key issues. After recveing Sheikh Hasina, PM Modi also interacted with the Bangladesh delegation.

Both will also have talks on pertinent issues including defence, security, trade and energy. PM Modi also made certain key announcement while delivering a joint statement with PM Sheikh Hasina. Here are key highlights of the joint statement:

-PM Modi announces $500 million for Bangladesh’s defence procurement, $4.5 billion for projects in priority sector.

-PM announces India to partner Bangladesh in goal of Power for all by 2021. 60 MW added to 600 MW supply from India, commitment of 500 MW more.

-PM Narnedra Modi said that India is a long-standing and trusted development partner of Bangladesh and is determined that fruits of corporation benefit our people.
