Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 3 visited the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand to pay to offer prayers at the holy Himalayan shrine whose portals were open after a six-month-long winter break. The Prime Minister is also expected to inaugurate a research centre at Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar at noon.
PM Modi was greeted by a huge number of people on his arrival in Kedarnath. He was also gifted a miniature temple by the authorities. “Tomorrow I will be visiting Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand. I will begin my Uttarakhand visit by praying at the Kedarnath Temple,” the Prime Minister had tweeted a day before he was scheduled to visit.

Prime Minister also took to Twitter to share that he was at the Kedarnath temple to offer prayers.

This is Prime Minister’s first visit to the holy shrine after taking over the office of the Prime Minister. The new Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat had reached Kedarnath a day before the Prime Minister’s visit to check the preparations.
