AAP in 2 years has done more work than BJP in 10 years: Arvind Kejriwal on MCD polls

Arvind Kejriwal claimed that people only remember BJP for converting "Delhi into a dumpyard; dengue and chikungunya; rampant corruption"

The all-important elections to the Municipal corporation of Delhi (MCD) will be held on Sunday. It is the first time that Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is fighting the civic polls. It’s been two years since the AAP government is in power in Delhi, hence the result will be seen as a referendum on what the people think about the government in the state.

In an interview to Hindustan Times, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is only fighting the elections in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But he assured the people that “Modiji is not going to run the MCD… MCD will only be run by Kejriwal.”

Speaking on why Delhi should be voting for the AAP and not the BJP, Kejriwal said despite ruling the MCD for 10 years, the saffron party has not been able to do anything that the people would remember them from. Applauding his own government, he said that the AAP government has done more work in 10 years as compared to BJP’s work in 10 years at the MCD.

“Compare 10 years of the BJP in MCD and AAP’s two years in government in Delhi. I regularly ask the people of Delhi if they can remember one work of the BJP-ruled MCDs. No one remembers even one,” he said.

He also claimed that people only remember BJP for converting “Delhi into a dumpyard; dengue and chikungunya; rampant corruption.”

Recalling the work done by the AAP in Delhi, Kejriwal said his government has reduced power rates, given free water, provided potable water in taps in some areas, the conditions in hospitals have improved, mohalla clinics have been made and private schools have not been allowed to hike fees.

Eyeing the MCD polls, Kejriwal said: “Now, we need to come together and clean Delhi. People of Delhi have this hope of cleaning Delhi only from AAP. That’s why they should vote for us.”
