Taking potshots at ABVP, Madhu Kishwar—former sympathiser of Prime Minister Narendra Modi—called the right-wing students’ group “weak in intellectual firepower” that needs to stop acting “desperate” and inculcate more discipline in its cadre. In the aftermath of the ABVP’s alleged vandalism in Ramjas college, Madhu Purnima Kishwar, a professor at the Delhi-based Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), tweeted, “ABVP needs more disciplined cadre. They’re weak in intellectual firepower so act desperate. She said, ABVP students are also disadvantage of being “Hindi medium types”. She called upon the BJP leadership to train the ABVP cadre and equip it with more intellectual power and discipline.

Not only did she tweet against the hooliganism showed by the ABVP supporters, she also dismantled the BJP leader’s argument over the issue.

On February 21, a large group of ABVP students disrupted the first session of a two-day seminar at Ramjas College on Indian tribals—a subject of which Umar Khalid was writing his PhD thesis. The RSS’ student wing vandalised the college and disrupted the event even before Khalid reached the campus. They had a problem with Umar Khalid, who was in jail on charges of sedition last year following the February 9 incident in JNU, being invited to the seminar. Since, the disruption and cancellation of the event at Ramjas college ABVP has been clashing with other students. Apparently, section 144 had to be imposed in North Campus. However, Delhi Police denied these reports. However, several video’s and social media accounts of ABVP’s alleged goondaism on the campus has resulted in a stream of outrage against ABVP.
Thereafter, the social media site was flooded with tweets from the users venting out their anguish with the hashtag ‘Students Against ABVP’.
