After humiliating MCD defeat, AAP top leader Sanjay Singh quits, party calls emergency meeting

Punjab AAP Chief Sanjay Singh has offered to resign from his post a day after it suffered a humiliating loss in the MCD elections

A day after the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered an embarrassing defeat in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, party’s top leader Sanjay Singh who was the Punjab in-charge has offered to resign from his post on April 27.

Following which, the party has called for an emergency meeting. This comes even as AAP leader Alka Lamba also offered to resign from all the party posts.”I offer to quit from all the party posts and MLA post taking the moral responsibility for the defeat of the party in all the three wards of my constituency,” Lamba had tweeted.

Sanjay Singh was said to be a close aide of Arvind Kejriwal.  Aam Aadmi Party has come out to blame the EVMs for the loss in the civic polls. Some of them even trolled the party and suggested them to introspect instead of playing the blame game.

मैंने पंजाब के प्रभारी पद से अपना इस्तीफ़ा राष्ट्रीय संयोजक @ArvindKejriwal जी को दे दिया है, दुर्गेश ने भी सह प्रभारी पद छोड़ा।

Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal came forward to congratulate the BJP who continued its winning streak and emerged as the winner in the civic polls. BJP is all set to start its third consecutive term. “Congratulate BJP on their victory in all 3 MCDs. My government looks forward to working wid MCDs for the betterment of Delhi,” Kejriwal had tweeted.
