Making the split official in the Samajwadi Party, the posters of new political party ‘Samajwadi Secular Morcha’, formed by Shivpal Singh surfaced in Lucknow on May 6. The posters feature party leader and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav along with Shivpal.
On May 5, Shivpal had announced that his brother Mulayam Singh will head a secular front which will be formed by him.
According to news agency ANI, Shivpal had said, “In order to restore Netaji’s lost dignity and to bring all the Samajwadis together, there will soon be an announcement of this secular front in Lucknow.”
Earlier, Shivpal had given an ultimatum to his nephew and former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav that “the secular front would be formed if he did not hand over the reins of the party back to his father Mulayam in 3 months.”

Samajwadi Party has witnessed a power struggle between Akhilesh and Shivpal which led to a family drama before Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections.
