The newly elected Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath on March 21 cleared 20 acres of land for the construction of Ramayana museum in Ayodhya. The land for the Ramayana museum was selected by the Culture Ministry.
The museum is a part of the Ramayana Circuit and the Central Government approved a budget of Rs. 225 crore, with Rs 151 crore exclusively for Ayodhya. The government is also planning to complete the construction of the museum within 18 months.
Earlier, ex- chief minister of UP, Akhilesh Yadav had not granted permission for the construction of the museum.
Previously, the Supreme Court of India has advised to solve Ayodhya Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. In a fresh statement on March 21, Supreme Court said that amicable settlement of the Ayodhya dispute was a better course than insistence on judicial pronouncement.

P.P. Chaudhary, a senior BJP leader and Minister of State for Law and Justice said, “this is a very good step by the apex court. Even the BJP has been encouraging solving the issue through negotiations.”
In October 2016, The Union Culture Minister, Mahesh Sharma had visited Ayodhya to inspect the site for the Ramayana Museum.
