This was Adityanath's first address in the Vidhan Sabha since he took oath as the CM after BJP won the assembly election with the massive majority.

In an embarrassment to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh, its newly elected MLAs were caught sleeping during Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s address in the Vidhan Sabha on March 30. This was Adityanath’s first address in the Vidhan Sabha since he took oath as the CM after BJP won the assembly election with the massive majority.

During his address, CM Adityanath said that his government and opposition will work together towards the public welfare. Further on the usage of red-light on MLA’s vehicles, CM said that the government officials and ministers could use the red light on their vehicles for official purposes but not when they were travelling with their family or for personal use.

He further added that no family or friends of these government officials, ministers, or MLAs would interfere in the government activities in the state.

Earlier on March 19, BJP, after much suspense, named Yogi Adityanath as the CM of the Uttar Pradesh. Party took this decision to appoint the Gorakhpur MP as the leader of the legislature party was taken during a crucial meet of BJP MLAs in Lucknow.

Besides Yogi Adityanath, Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma have been appointed as the deputy Chief Ministers of the state.

Thanks to the extensive campaign led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP managed to grab 324 seats of 403 in the elections. With this win, the party came back to power in the state after almost 15 long years.

Reacting to party’s victory, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh said: “BJP’s cruising to victory in Uttar Pradesh was an indication that voters in the state have risen above caste for the first time.”

“For the first time, we are seeing people rising above caste in Uttar Pradesh. The voters have moved a step ahead of politicians,” the minister added.
