The leaders of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) held a Parliamentary party meet ahead of the beginning of day 5 of the stormy winter session of the Parliament. The leaders of the party iterated that the government was ready for discussion with the opposition on demonetisation.
“We are ready for discussion on demonetisation, have said it many times,” Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said in the BJP Parliamentary party meet.
The Finance Minister said that the implementing demonetisation was a big decision for the government. Calling it a historic step, he said that the entire nation was supporting the move taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to curb corruption and black money in the country.
Asserting that the decision will help in eliminating poverty, Jaitley said that, “By stopping the ‘normal’ of last 70 years, PM Modi has created a new ‘normal’.”
Attacking the opposition he said, “Some people are saying that even the Finance Minister did not know of the decision, and then they say the party knew beforehand.”
Backing PM Modi’s decision Jaitley said that the move will provide a boost to the digital economy in the country. “For next few weeks we are planning to focus on the agricultural sector, Rabi season is also coming,” he added.
