Lalu Prasad Yadav-led RJD and the Bharatiya Janata Party who have been at loggerheads over several issues seems to have agreed on one particular issue which is putting a ban on cow slaughter.
According to an Indian Express report, BJP seconded Health and Environment Minister Tej Pratap Yadav’s views on putting a ban on cow slaughter saying that they “welcome” the decision. Tej Pratap Yadav who is also the elder son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav had recently said that because of the ineffective ban on cow slaughter, the export of cow meat saw no difference adding that the state government would make that there is complete ban on cow slaughter is imposed.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi hailed the decision saying that BJP welcomes the move of imposing a total ban on cow slaughter and that Tej Pratap must have discussed the idea with father father Lalu Prasad Yadav. ” It would be a good move if the RJD can manage to enforce a complete ban on cow slaughter.”
Tej Pratap adav has urged the central government to ensure a complete on cow dlaughter while it is making efforts to make ammends in their demonetisation drive. Presently, the 1955 law prohits the killing of cow. However, the law also states that it was permissable to kill a cow which is more than 15 years old or dead. Tej Pratap further asserted that the law, however, had not been effectively implemented.
Lalu Prasad Yadav had recently lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the demonetisation drive was an “organsied scam”. He had even said that PM Modi was a smaller leader than Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi. This came after Rahul Gandhi went on a criticising spree against the demonetisationg and even allgeing that the Prime Minister had accepted a bribe of Rs 40 crore from Sahara.
